Practicum Students and Internships
for Doctoral Students
Practicum: The Center offers half-time practicum
level experience in the adult track or the school
based adolescent
track. The practicum is a one-year commitment with
18 hours per week required. Practicum students wishing
to apply to work with adults should call the front
desk (310) 271-9999 x 0 to be transferred to an information
line regarding the application procedure. Those wishing
to work with adolescents in the school based counseling
program should call Dr. Susan Spiegel at (310) 271-9999
x239.
Pre doctoral Internships: Full (35+ hrs) and half-time
(20+ hrs) internships are available and open to
students having completed a practicum experience.
There is
a one-year commitment for full time status and
a two
year commitment for half time status.
The Center is a member of APPIC and meets its training
standards, abides by its policies, and participates
in the national match. APPIC applications are due
by December 10, for internships beginning the following
fall. Please contact APPIC through their WEBSITE for
information, application forms, and procedures.
Applications are reviewed and The Center calls
those students
which we wish to interview. Dr. Rose (310) 271-9999
x214
is the contact person at the Center.
The Center is also a member of CAPIC. While The
Center usually fills all internship openings through
the
APPIC national matching service, we occasionally
have unfilled
positions. When this happens, we will accept CAPIC
applications.
Doctoral interns desiring to work primarily with
adults should call Dr. Lorraine Rose at (310) 271-9999
x214
to schedule an interview.
Those wishing to apply to the Mindful Parenting
track should call Dr. Jessica Herzog at (310) 271-9999
x241.
Post-Doctoral Internships: As a general rule, we
only accept post doctoral students who have completed
either
a practicum experience or pre doctoral internship
at our Center.
